A book you Can’t Help Falling In Love with!
Love Songs For Sceptics by Christina Pishiris
When she was a teenager, Zoë Frixos fell in love with Simon Baxter, her best friend and the boy next door. But his family moved to America before she could tell him how she felt and, like a scratched record, she’s never quite moved on. Now, almost twenty years later, Simon is heading back to London, newly single and as charming as ever . . .
But as obstacles continue to get in her way – Simon’s perfect ex-girlfriend, her brother’s big(ish) fat(ish) Greek wedding, and an obnoxious publicist determined to run Zoë – Zoë begins to wonder whether, after all these years, she and Simon just aren’t meant to be.
What if, despite what all the songs and movies say, your first love isn’t always all it’s cracked up to be? What if, instead Zoë and Simon are forever destined to shuffle around their feelings for each other, never quite getting the steps right . . .

A glorious book from the very first page! I immediately clicked with the characters and it felt like I had known them all my life. Also Zoe was the perfect female lead – she was someone you could root for and completely relatable!
It’s just a fabulous romantic comedy with the perfect ‘will they, won’t they?’ theme that had me racing through each of the chapters as I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. The music references throughout the book were great and I loved how every chapter is named after a song title. Although it did take me until I was 10 chapters in to realise this!
From the synopsis I thought I had the book all worked out, but I was completely wrong and I’m so glad I was! Just when you think you know where the story is going, you’re hit with an unexpected twist (including one I certainly didn’t figure out until it was revealed) which then changes everything but in a good way! I was completely invested in each one of the characters and there were definitely points where I was desperately wishing for different things to happen, it was a complete rollercoaster that I fully loved being a part of.
It had everything you could want from a rom-com all rolled up in 451 beautiful pages. From the best friends with a hidden love for each other, the classic love/hate relationship and all this is complete with an awesome soundtrack (well music references, but it will have you adding them to your playlist)!
A thoroughly enjoyable read that was full of big personalities, laugh out loud moments and plenty of romance!
